As a researcher… I use a telescope in space and on-campus to study planets outside of our own Solar System. I hope to understand how planets evolve throughout their lifetime – and maybe find life beyond Earth!

As a researcher… I hope to develop an application of nanoelectrodes for probing electrically active molecules. Using this, I hope to make direct measurements of biological pathways in organelles and also characterize highly reactive molecules by confining them to a small volume.

As a researcher… I use the Goodman Remote Observing Room to access the SOAR telescope (physically in Chile) to collect data of several hundred galaxies as part of the RESOLVE Survey. My research group and I take pictures of the galaxy (photometry) and also take pictures of a slice of the galaxy at different wavelengths (spectroscopy). These pictures are then processed to reveal properties of galaxies like it’s Velocity, Distance, Mass, Age and amount of Dark Matter!
I love my laboratory because…
The survey gives me the opportunity to find out more about the Universe, and it’s special nature does something that is unprecedented in Astronomy!

As a researcher… I use nanomaterials to make new types of diodes. These diodes could be used increase the speed of wifi by 100x or collect energy from the background radiation in the environment, eliminating the need to charge things like your phone.

As a researcher… I study the transfer of electrons in the formation of hydrogen gas and more. This fundamental research helps us to understand how electricity can be used to drive chemical reactions to store power from solar cells in chemical bonds.
